Practical Korea travel advice, written by people who live here.
We are the small Korea-based team behind Oomphyedit. We started this site because many everyday things in Korea—using transit cards, choosing the right map app, booking a taxi, or deciding where to stay—can be surprisingly confusing when you are visiting for the first time.
We grew up in Korea, so these systems are part of daily life for us. Our job is not simply to repeat what Koreans already know. It is to notice the details a visitor might miss and explain them clearly in English.
Why we created Oomphyedit
Oomphyedit is for travelers who want to feel prepared without spending hours piecing together advice from forums and outdated posts. We focus on practical questions: what to install before you land, how to get from the airport, which transit card to buy, how to find your way around, and which local habits can make a trip easier.
Our goal is simple: help you spend less time figuring out how Korea works and more time enjoying your trip.
What we cover
- Public transportation and airport transfers
- Korean navigation, taxi, translation, and travel apps
- Transit cards, everyday payments, SIM cards, and eSIMs
- Seoul neighborhoods and practical trip planning
- Food, shopping, culture, and local etiquette for visitors
Where our knowledge comes from
We know Korea as locals, but that does not make us authorities on every subject. For everyday travel, culture, and local systems, we share the knowledge that comes from living here. For immigration rules, government policies, fares, schedules, and other details that can change, we check the relevant official sources and separate confirmed requirements from personal advice.
How we prepare our guides
- We explain local systems from the perspective of people who use them in everyday life.
- We check changing policies, prices, schedules, and app features against official sources.
- When we test a process ourselves, we say what we tested and under which conditions.
- We add a last-verified date to important guides and update them when services change.
