Food Delivery in Korea for Foreigners: Which Service?
| Option | Best starting point for | Account and verification requirements | Check before paying |

| Baemin / 배달의민족 | Browsing local restaurants through the tourist guest route | Guest ordering is available without Korean identity verification | Supported checkout method, delivery address and restaurant availability |
| Shuttle | English-first ordering and accessible support | No local number required to open an account; credits and offers require phone verification | Coverage at your exact address and the contact requirements shown |

Account registration, Korean identity verification, and contact details are separate requirements. Check what the service requests for your order. A listed payment method does not guarantee approval by every card issuer.
What “Without a Korean Number” Actually Means
Three things often get mixed together: mobile data, a phone number that can receive messages, and Korean identity verification.
A data-only travel eSIM gives you an internet connection. It does not necessarily give you a Korean number or SMS service. A tourist SIM with a local number also should not be treated as automatic eligibility for every resident-only verification process.
Keep your email and order notifications accessible so you can receive updates. If the service asks for contact information you cannot provide, contact support or use another ordering option. Do not enter an invented phone number.

Baemin: Do Not Rely on Pre-2026 Advice
Start with Baemin’s visitor page for the current app and ordering information.
In its May 2026 merchant guidance, Baemin confirms guest orders without login or identity verification, automatically translated menus, and payment with overseas credit cards, Alipay and WeChat Pay. Its multilingual rollout includes English, Japanese and Chinese. That changes the practical advice for a short visit. Baemin’s visitor-ordering announcement, Woowa Brothers’ multilingual rollout.
Choose the guest ordering route in the current app. If you reach a membership or payment-account setup screen, go back and look for the guest option.
Set your accommodation address to see nearby restaurants, then select an overseas-card or international payment option offered at checkout.
Other Baemin services may have different guest-ordering requirements. This guide covers restaurant meal delivery.
Shuttle: An English-First Alternative
Try Shuttle when you prefer to browse menus and contact support in English.
The company says a local phone number is not required to open an account. However, phone verification is required for features such as Shuttle credit and certain offers. It lists international and domestic cards and PayPal among payment methods. In other words, ordinary ordering and promotional benefits should not be treated as the same requirement. Shuttle’s account and payment overview.
Coverage is the main filter. Shuttle lists delivery areas in cities including Seoul, Busan, Daegu and Pyeongtaek, but that does not mean every address inside those cities is covered. Enter your location before choosing a meal. Official delivery areas.
Its 2026 first-timer guide recommends checking your building details, keeping notifications available and using live chat with your order number when you need help. Follow the login or verification instructions shown for your account rather than assuming there will never be a code to enter. Shuttle’s current ordering guide.
Creatrip: Better for a Planned Meal Than Impulse Browsing
Creatrip is a different kind of option. Think of it as booking a selected delivery product, not necessarily scrolling through every nearby restaurant in a conventional delivery app.
Its delivery guide says Korean identity verification and a Korean card are not required, but accurate recipient contact information is still important. Read the conditions of the individual meal before booking. Creatrip delivery guide.
For example, the BHC chicken listing instructs customers to contact the team through Order History → Live Chat at least 30 minutes before the scheduled delivery. It also explains that hotel orders are generally received in the lobby. Do not pay and then put your phone away: coordination is part of the booking. BHC delivery listing and conditions.
Use Creatrip when you want a specific meal and can coordinate its delivery time. Check the service area, extra charges, and cancellation terms before booking. Follow the latest contact notice on the listing; older LINE instructions still appear farther down some pages.
Choose the Meal Before You Choose the Extras

Check the serving size and whether rice, side dishes, and utensils are included before adding extras.
A clearly labeled single-serving rice bowl or meal set is easier to size for one person than a large chicken combination. For two people, compare the set contents with the individual dishes.
If your room has limited eating space, choose a meal you can handle comfortably and add cutlery if needed.
Translated menu text is helpful for browsing, but do not guess at ingredients from an English dish name. If you need a specific ingredient excluded, get a clear answer from the restaurant or service before ordering.
Hotel Delivery: Agree on the Handoff First
The best preparation happens before opening the menu. Ask reception two simple questions: “Can I order outside food?” and “Where should I meet the driver?”
Use the accommodation’s full name and road-name address, ideally copied from its own booking details. Check the district as well as the building name; a familiar hotel brand may have more than one property.
Then add the entrance or building detail that actually helps someone find you. A room number is not a substitute for a usable entrance, and a driver should not be expected to access secured guest floors.
If a delivery-note field is available, a short instruction is easier to act on than a long translated explanation:
- 로비에서 받을게요. — I will meet you in the lobby.
- 1층 입구에서 받을게요. — I will meet you at the first-floor entrance.
Use only the instruction that matches the agreed location. Keep an eye on the estimate and be ready to go downstairs. Do not enter the hotel’s phone number unless reception agrees to handle those calls.
For an apartment or guesthouse, ask the host about the entrance, intercom and food-waste arrangements. Avoid putting unnecessary access details in a public-looking note field.
Check the Final Cart and Delivery Total
Before confirming, take one last look at five things: the address, quantity, required options, total price and expected timing.
Check delivery fees, minimum-order requirements, and any other charges in the final total. Compare that total with pickup or a nearby meal before adding food just to reach a minimum.
Save the confirmation or order number. A card notification alone does not tell you whether the restaurant accepted the order. Use the service’s order status as your next check.
If payment fails, pause before trying again. Look for an existing order and a receipt first so you do not accidentally submit dinner twice. If the outcome is unclear, contact support with the order details rather than creating another account.
When Pickup or a Nearby Meal Is the Better Choice

Pickup may suit a small order when the restaurant is nearby and delivery fees or minimums add too much to the total.
Check the branch and choose pickup only if you can collect the food yourself.

Keep a Convenience-Store Backup

A nearby convenience store is a useful backup. Check whether the store or your accommodation has the hot water or microwave your meal needs.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I order food in Korea without a Korean phone number?
Options are available, but the contact requirements differ. Shuttle says a local number is not required to open an account; Baemin offers guest ordering without Korean identity verification. Before ordering, check which phone number or messaging channel the service requires for delivery updates. A guest account or an exemption from identity verification does not by itself confirm the contact requirements for your order.
Which app should I try first?
Try Baemin for nearby restaurant choices, Shuttle for an English-first alternative, or Creatrip for a specific meal you can book and coordinate in advance.
Can I use a foreign credit card?
Baemin and Shuttle describe international-card support, and Creatrip offers a visitor payment flow. Use the methods shown for your order at checkout.
What about Coupang Eats or Yogiyo?
An English interface does not establish whether a service supports visitor checkout. Check the current account and payment requirements for Coupang Eats or Yogiyo before relying on either.
Will the driver bring food to my hotel room?
Ask your hotel where outside food can be received. Plan to meet the driver in the agreed lobby or entrance area unless the hotel confirms another arrangement.
Do I need a different app for every meal?
No. Once one service works with your address and payment method, keep it and a backup rather than setting up a new app for every meal.
Your Easiest Dinner Plan
Confirm the hotel’s pickup point, choose a service that covers the address, and review the total before paying. Keep order notifications on until you have collected the food.
